This parallels the story of government. The more government we get, the more expensive it is. The bigger it gets, the less service we receive. Those who work for the government, however, always insist that those service problems are simply the result of not enough money to hire enough people to give better service.

In California, a $57 billion budget turned into a $77 billion budget in just four years. More than 43,000 new state employees have been added to the payroll during that time, while the state of California has lost 230,000 manufacturing jobs in just the past year.
