Richard Thanks so much for your quick and comprehensive reply - I am looking for a strategy to apply to a number of high yiled closed-end bond funds which now have some very nice charts (eg DHF PHF HYP etc) and also pay very high dividends, due, undoubtedly, to their terrible performance over the past 3 years. It seems to me that you could make more money off the share price move than you could off the dividend. it surprised me to find that even funds with monthly payouts exhibited these wild swings between announcement and ex-div dates. anyway, I have a lot of studying to do, and I appreciate you sharing your ideas with me.
