As someone who works at NASA, at the Johnson Space Center, and who knew this Shuttle crew intimately, I'd like to ask everyone to take a moment and say a prayer for the families they left behind. My middle daughter is in the same classroom as the son of Rick Husband, who was the commander of this flight. We participated in the same camping programs at the YMCA. We were invited to the launch back on 1/16, but didn't attend for various reasons. We just got an email yesterday about the "welcome home" reception that was scheduled for Ellington AFB tomorrow... I personally had a slew of life sciences experiments that this crew participated in over the last 2 weeks, and have been training them for the last few years. Trust me when I say that these were some of the finest humans you would ever want to meet. This is a very sad day for the entire nation, but its especially hard for those of us who interacted with the crew on a daily basis. May god rest their souls...
