According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information

In 2000, the most recent year for which comparable data are available, Canada had the fourth highest total health expenditure as a proportion of GDP among the G-7 industrialized countries. The United States had the highest ratio at 13.0% of GDP, followed by Germany with 10.6% and France at 9.5%. According to the OECD, in U.S. dollars, $4,631 per person was spent on health care in the United States in 2000, compared to $2,535 spent in Canada.
