Bush went to the UN because of the polls. Now he regrets it. The polls may keep him from rushing prematurely into war. We'll see. On the other hand the chickenhawks in his administration have a lot of influence over him. Thank God we have Powell there. He's tough but rational and is not thinking about oil company profits. He's more concerned with the lives of our servicemen and doing what's fair and right. That said, we may go to war with greater UN support if Bush doesn't shoot from the hip again. Better yet, we pressure Iraqis into killing Saddam or create some kind of coup d'etat. But it's tough when Saddam is on guard. Better to have taken him out a year ago more discreetly. Could save 500,000 lives and 200 billion dollars we dont have to spend.
