Eric Re..The assumption you make is that Kim Jong Il cares about his people or that they some how have power over him - both false.

Frankly, I think it is a mistake to put Kim LL in the same category Saddam is in. I think Kim cares for his people; why is he blackmailing us to get help, it he didn't care. And he is taking the risky venture of opening travel to SK to get currency, just like what happened in E. Germany. Perhaps we will se a similar outcome.

Besides if people are starving someone in this world will eventually send food regardless of their policies.

I didn't say we should starve NK. However kim knows which side his bread is buttered on, and he can't afford to antagonize us too much. Otherwise he will have to go begging to others.
