Invade exactly where SC?? Pakistan is a NUCLEAR power with a population of over 130 million people... It MUST be contained, and US allied elements within it's society and government supported in order to oppose militant factions. Again.. the militants have NOTHING to offer but martyrdom to those Pakistanis who follow them. So what is important is that Musharraf has the economic and political support that makes westen modernization a more attractive alternative. Furthermore, he must work to break up the local warlord and tribal power structure, which will require considerable time, effort, and bloodshed.

Invading Pakistan with US forces would also be like the US Army invading SE Washington DC in order to take out the Drug Gangs.. Terrorists operate on a decentralized "cell" structure.. The best manner to handle it is through dogged police work and special operations... Putting an army in there would accomplish nothing..

The difference betweem Iraq and Pakistan is that we have SERIOUS ISSUES with Iraq's government, not their people. But in the case of Pakistan, we have less of an issue with their government than we do with a radicalized, but regional population in that country.

But should Musharraf's government fall to the militants, THEN I would accept your logic that invasion might be necessary (god forbid)..
