Or are you merely disagreeing just to be contrarian?? :0)

Would I ever? :-)

And we'll likely continue to do so in those cases where we think we:
1.) get away with it politically and militarily..

In the short term, you (the US) will be able to "get away with it", thanks to its overwhelming military power. The longer term might be a different story - loss of the legitimacy of that authority, increased hostility towards Americans, etc.

2.) It is in the US vital interest..

A lot of things can be in the interests of the US. There is also something called playing fair and according to rules (i.e. international treaties & agreements) and not like a bully.

3.) It increases UN leverage over the UN with the goal of reinforcing the values the US originally designed the UN to achieve.

As in, the other countries did not and cannot now have a say in the "values" of the UN? Its charter is pretty clear, actually. And its mandate seems to be peaceful resolution of differences, not preemptive invasions.

4.).. anything else I think of after I have my coffee.. :0)

Brilliant :-)

This reminds me of George Orwell's "Animal Farm". I think it was the pigs who said "All animals are equal, but some are more equal then others"...
