folks, where is everyone seeing deflation? i see housing inflation that has been skyrocketing - homes in my area are up 100% in 6 years - and they weren't cheap in 1997, either! basically, the govt rigs numbers. they didn't like gdp in 1996 so they changed the calculation and then bragged about a new economy based on the calculation change - NOT THE REALITY! wrt inflation, it seems the govt just excludes anything that rises in price from the calculation. even so, the cpi is still rising.
