History has shown you cannot trust the logging or oil industries once they are given the keys to the wilderness. Once they're in there they take extra, destroy more, have accidents, get careless, get greedy, dump refuse in the wrong places, pollute and clear-cut. The key to Bush's iniative is the fine print where the rights of citizens groups to sue will be taken away. Bush claims they are frivolous lawsuits but it is the only weapon those who care about our lands have to slow down the plundering. Bush's Secretary Of The Interior is pro-logging and pro-drilling so they're not going to do anything. And the EPA under Bush has also been turned into a toothless regulatory body.
