What is even more tragic about the Challenger tragedy in 1986, is the fact many tried to alert NASA to possible future disasters because of poorly engineered and manufactured O-rings on the two side rockets used to boost the Space Shuttle off the launch pad. In fact, the manufacturer of the O-rings was pressured by NASA to give their approval for the fatal launch which should have been aborted.... NASA at the time cared more about their image and schedule and the rest is history. Part of this information was on MSNBC last night in a look back at the Challenger mission, so it is just not my opinion for those who may wish to argue.
