re: CRM shakeout

The fact is, business process management is emerging as the new focus of business applications, replacing ERP, CRM, SCM (supply chain management) and other disciplines.

It is? BPM sounds to me like another non-implementable "we'll solve your interoperability business problem" buzzword. It reminds me of promises Crossworlds used to make.

"Eventually, the Oracles and E.piphanys of the CRM world will be providing more and more CRM functionality that simply will not exist in a stand-alone format," Gartner research director Adam Sarner told CRMDaily. If the smaller vendors do not fail outright, and if they are not consumed by larger players, then they will have branched out into other areas.

Does this author condider Epiphany to be a survivor, able to squeeze out a CRM player?
