Dont be paranoid about "wackos". If you mean environmentalists you're dealing with one right now, and I'm no wacko. Environmentalists dont want to take away anything of yours. They want to preserve what we all have. They also want to be a check and balance against industry, get your attention and change your opinion about protecting our valuable and irreplaceable public lands, especially our wildlife rufuges and those very special places that one can say are truly God's greatest creations, whether you are religious or not. The history of this country is one of over-harvesting, rampant development and up until recently little or no regard for nature. In the old days we all thought America The Beautiful was an infinite resource. Now we are at a point where unless we strongly conserve, someday the only wildlands left will be outdoor "museums". It's already getting to eb that way. as a youth I really enjoyed our country's wilderness areas. I pray they will never be cut down and pillaged. If we look ahead 100 years the picture becomes even clearer, especially if we have Bush-types in power for large chnks of time opening up the gates to exploitation. Environmentalism should be shared by everyone, give or take. But it should never be attacked as a whole. Even conservatives should be environmentalists. For no one gains long-term if we kill the Golden Goose of our great last-remaining wildlands.
