Also going from (almost) $400bil to $500 bil in 10 years is not a very big increase after you adjust for inflation. Most government programs will increase at a faster rate over the same time period, many of them will increase much faster.

Furthermore I was talking about the defense budget which your source projects as $483.6 billion not $500bil. Its true that money in other budgets go to defend the country but you said "increase the defense budget to $500bil" and some of the money in that $500bil isn't part of the defense budget.

But the main thing is that I said it isn't going to happen under Bush and you are talking about "the end of the decade".
