Even if he did state "the specific conditions we can use to judge for ourselves when the bear process could be judged to be finished", it would be one man's opinion to learn from and/or to weigh against other views. re: ("think we are on our own now. Actually it seems we always were.") Definately - I've always believed that. As of your strategy, I'm doing that myself for about 85% of my financial assets. When I add up what I did not lose in this bear market, I feel satisfaction and appreciation for Bob's warnings during 1999 and his January 2000 call to raise cash reserves. Good luck to both of us. We can look forward to the day when market conditions will surely improve. This bear of all bears won't last forever. I just hope things get better before the next election. P
