Microsemi Promotes Kare Karlsen To Corporate Vice President of Strategic Manufacturing

Microsemi Corp. (Nasdaq:MSCC - News), a leading manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and power and signal discrete semiconductors, announced the appointment today of Kare Karlsen to the new position of corporate vice president of strategic manufacturing. In his new role, Karlsen will be responsible for efficient utilization of Microsemi manufacturing operations worldwide, reporting to Ralph Brandi, executive vice president and chief operations officer of the corporation.
Karlsen's initial focus is to analyze wafer fabrication, test and assembly capabilities and capacity at all Microsemi operations, while continuing the transfer of the company's high-reliability metal can assembly and test operations to lower cost offshore facilities.
Karlsen, will continue to be based in the company's Lawrence, Mass., operation where he has been a vice president and general manager since 2001 when he joined Microsemi as part of the company's acquisition of New England Semiconductor located in Lawrence.
