Sorry, Hawk, without a motive (have you got one for why Israel should have wanted the Liberty sunk?) I can't buy "but they MUST have seen the flag" arguments. Human sight is very selective, combat stress does strange things to people, and if the pilots went in knowing that the ship was Egyptian they could have not seen the flag or thought it must be false colors. As Oren says, if Israel wanted the ship sunk, why didn't they finish sinking it?
