Microsoft is changing their name to Muck-Ro-Rock Enterprises Inc. They are going to be doing joint ventures in software, hardrock, diamonds and gold, in California and India. Their next operating system will be a combination of Linux and Windows called either Linbloze, or Whineaboutit 2005. It will cure the virus problems of Microsoft windows, add 50 million lines of code, and embrace and extend open source. Bill Gates is changing his name to the Maharishi Mines Codey. He issued a statement today that true to traditions of Microsoft in embracing new technology, they would asborb the lessons of Linux and its greater stability by becoming Linux and writing for the platform.

It should be remembered that one of Microsoft's more reliable OS's was Xenix, a Unix clone which used to run the Model 16 of Tandy R-Scrap. It worked and had few bugs. There was not too much software, but there were no viruses and many businesses used to use it. True to their grand tradition one day they suddenly announced they would no longer support it. You were out in the cold.

Shades of Netlinux. The Idea is not dead, it was a grand scheme. It required 50 programmers and ten million dollars. Then it would have worked.
