Lazarus, whatta you think of this idea?

So what are we talking about, six million people overall?

Why not make 'em all millionaires! That's right. Give each family a million dollars, tell them to help their families and friends and try and make the world a better place--Make Jerusulem a place where folks from all over the world can visit, worship and learn.

I know, I know, it's a crazy idea. But it's no crazier of an idea than the cost of continued war between Israelis and Palestinians and the repercussions which reverberate throughout the entirety of the MidEast as a consequence. I mean we're now, directly or indirectly, going to war in Iraq over the issue. Are we not?

I mean Bush is threatening, for the first time I've heard of in my adult lifetime, to actually use nuclear weapons! What's the cost of that! Saddam, on the other side, is threatening to set 1500 oil wells on fire and flood waters with burning oil. What's the cost of that!

I mean the first Gulf War cost 80 million and the second one is projected to cost between 100 and 200 million. And that's only dollars--what about all the dead people, the cost of grief!?!

By all means, put as much money as possible into the Israeli-Palestinian people--they've suffered long enough, and so has the rest of the world. Think about it. Sharon won't be able to bulldoze down Palestinian houses because, well, er, ah, well millionaires don't get their houses bulldozed. And how many millionaire suicide bombers do you think we'd find?

It's such a simple resolution. And the fact that we don't do it only proves that America constantly is putting its money in the wrong place.
