middle eastern Arabs are, for the most part, antisemitic. They desire the destruction of Israel
I believe those two can be two different animals. Granted that Jewish people are really not popular among Middle East Arabs, do you think that is because: (1) Arabs are Anti-Semitic - i.e. they hate all Jews anywhere on this planet, because they are of a different religion ... or: (2) Arabs are Anti-Israel - i.e. they have had it with the Isr/Pal conflict, especially with regards to what they perceive as extreme unfairness of Israel's crushing military power against Palestinians armed with stones and homemade bombs.
It may seem to most that there is no difference between these two, but I assure you, there is.
You note the media propaganda Arabs are "subjected to" (and there is of course no denying it). As someone who follows both media in several languages, I assure you that Americans are also "subject to" media propaganda. Just as you would expect (quite correctly) Arabs to hate Americans on the basis of the media propaganda, I see a very clear hate rhetoric forming (examples of which are obvious on SI) from the side of the Americans, guided at large by their very own media.
In the past year or so, I have watched in amazement as people I know quite well in America, who had never before shown any interest in the Middle East, whose knowledge about the Arabs, their culture, and their problems was considerably less than their understanding of Quantum Physics, turn into Arab-haters and Islam-bashers. Now that they have lived through a major terrorist attack, they know all about the horrors of terrorism and, more surprisingly, how to combat it. They know who the culprit is (Islam), and who their tanks and bombs have to fight (Muslims).
In short, I see the hate rhetoric rising from both sides, and it is a very alarming sight.
Until the power brokers within the PA start educating and encouraging their people on building a new society and drop the aim of destroying Israel, then Israel should stop its end of the killing.
Granted that it would be a Very Good Thing for PA to start educating its people and go from a destructive to a constructive mindset...: (1) I am not sure if a nation under occupation, without a home or future, killed like insects under tanks and bombs from the sky, have as priority the "education" of its people (2) Conversely, I am SURE that killing of civilians, especially by an all-powerful ARMY, is a crime against humanity, and should immediately cease with no conditions.
In my opinion, PA civilians are a brainwashed group of people and appear happy to kill Israelis and pray in their mosque for jewish death.
It might have something to do with the fact that they are under occupation and Israel is their "enemy". They probably don't need much "brain washing" to hate the state of Israel, under the circumstances. In any case, the question should be "What to do now?". Continuing to kill (in "retaliation") and increasing the number of settlements into Palestinian territory just don't seem to be solving anything. |
