Assume that the noble monarchy took great care of the people until 1958, and then the Baathists did not ruin this plan between 1958 and 1979, and Saddam was nowhere in sight. Then, in 1979, the evil Saddam took over, and everything began to go downhill. This is a false picture, but let's pretend it is true. Iraq was a Soviet client until 1980, at which time Iraq shifter into the American orbit. why did the U.S. decide to begin supporting Iraq the moment this evil Saddam took over?. Tom
