That "wackiest scenario" used to be the conventional Israeli line, as I understand it, e.g. "There is a Palestinian state - Jordan".

Since Jordan was a) part of the Mandate of Palestine, b) considered itself for many years as part of the same country as the rest of the Mandate, c) has the same Arab population (80% Palestinian, 20% Bedouin) as the rest of the Mandate, and d) the only Arab state to give citizenship to the displaced Palestinians, the description "Jordan is a Palestinian state" is true whether the Israelis push it or not.

Jordan fought a civil war in 1970 to determine whether the PLO or the Hashemites would rule this state. The Hashemites won, and killed 5,000 or more Palestinians to prove their point (estimates vary). Now King Abdullah sits on the throne with a Palestinian queen.
