How did "the rest of the world" "force" the US?

Uh.. possibly because they passed resolutions they had no intention of enforcing... despite a threatened RE-invasion of Kuwait in 1994, and the discovery of Saddam's MASSIVE deception program aimed at hiding his WMDs and violating the UNSC resolution...

Someone has to do it... and if the UN can't enforce them, then passing laws is no different than passing gas...

It might make them feel good, but everyone else has to pay.

No reason for the UN to agree with the US' recent infatuation with INVADING Iraq, though.

Just as there was no reason for the UN to permit the Human Rights commission to come under Qadaffi's control.. Or for Iraq and Iran to chair/co-chair the disarmament committee beginning in May.. Or for Syria to be elected to the UNSC.

What good is the UN if the the dictators and despots are going to be permitted to run it?? Why not call it the United Mafia instead??

That is, of course, only speculation.

Like claiming Saddam is now "docile"?? Uh huh... sure...
