Tuesday February 4 2003 News Release

Ms. Pamela Strand reports
SHEAR MINERALS LTD.: CHURCHILL PROJECT INCREASED TO 1 MILLION ...
Shear Minerals and Northern Empire Minerals have acquired an additional 600,000 acres of federal prospecting permits and claims surrounding and adjacent to the original Churchill diamond project. This new ground was acquired as a result of a regional sampling program in September last year, which identified eight anomalous samples with probe-confirmed kimberlite indicator minerals.
The Churchill project, which includes the TrustMe property, represents an entirely new conceptual diamond play in the Churchill craton of the Keewatin district of Nunavut. Shear is the operator of the project and holds a 51-per-cent interest with partners Empire holding 35 per cent and Hunter Exploration 14 per cent. The project now comprises more than one million acres of favourable ground near Rankin Inlet on Hudson Bay. Until recently, the region has not been a focus for diamond exploration. The partnership acquired the ground after two years of work that recovered kimberlite indicator minerals from regional samples. Recently (see news release in Stockwatch dated Jan. 30, 2003), the partners approved a $2.5-million exploration program on the project.
