The only basis, given the current conditions, under which any prospects for negotiations can start again is if the Bush folk push both sides to do so.

Well I agree that the Bush administration should be trying to do more with the situation....but I think the positive results for the US will be more in the form of PR than any actual deal.

I find it extremely hard to see Bush being more successful under the current circumstances than Clinton in '00.
