Gore's military budget was higher than GW's. What's your beef? And who needs a huge military build-up in peace time? We already had a huge build-up in the 80's which sent us deeply into debt. That resulted in four years of recessions under Bush Sr. Get your own facts straight. Also the decrease in military spending, as modest as it was, started under Bush Sr. not Clinton. And it was a largely bi-partisan effort. The Cold war was over and no new wars had yet begun. Plus the Clinton economy was booming and we had trouble attracting talented recruits. The private sector was muchmore attractive. That is not true anymore under GW.
