Tree-Trimming Scam Targets Elderly Couple Thieves Steal Jewelry And Cash Posted: 4:09 p.m. EST January 31, 2003 Updated: 4:58 p.m. EST January 31, 2003 A team of scam artists reportedly robbed an elderly couple while posing as a tree-trimming service. Police are searching for four men who they say robbed the elderly couple earlier this week. Police say one man spoke to the 81-year-old husband about trimming his trees, while another man distracted the wife. The other two men slipped into the house and got away with jewelry and hundreds of dollars in cash, Local 4 reported.
