Don't you think that both parties would prefer to see the agreements cancelled? Having Eon developing fully human mAbs might not be the best selling point for PDLI's own technology. Medarex should be happy not to let the competition having too close a look at what their mice are able to produce.

Maybe, they seem to be pretty dependent on Curagen. Both for filling their pipe-line and for filling the new factory.

On the other hand having some big pharma type swallowing Curagen might be seen as positive by Abgenix. This should provide more research and development resources for Curagen as well as a nice exposure for Abgenix towards the muncher. On second thoughts, I believe they would like that, provided the knight is white enough. None of Abgenix competitors should be able to snatch Curagen from them.

Medarex has their own set of problems and should not be a potential suitor. I don't believe Medarex concerns are a dearth of targets considering all the dealing they have done over the last couple of years. Allocating their not quite ample resources among all the potential projects must be more of a problem at their place.
