Kaiser says hold Northern Empire on diamond find

Tue 4 Feb 2003

John Kaiser writes in a Feb. 3 Express that Northern Empire Minerals (then
$1.10) and Stornoway Ventures have discovered a significantly
diamondiferous kimberlite outcropping on their Aviat project on Melville
Peninsula. Mr. Kaiser recommended Northern Empire in October, 2001, at 21
cents. He says that the microdiamond size distribution curve suggests a
grade in the 0.5-1.0 carat per tonne range. Indicator mineral analysis
reports "a moderate to high diamond potential for the kimberlite,"
emphasizing a "very compelling eclogitic garnet signature." The kimberlite
occurs as a 40-by-eight-metre outcrop of hypabyssal material at the edge of
a lake. Mr. Kaiser says Northern Empire and Stornoway represent fair
speculative value as bets on a world-class diamond discovery worth
$2-billion or more, and, in the absence of tonnage and macro-grade
information, have room for another 50-per-cent price increase. Northern
Empire, he says, is a "Spec Cycle 100% Hold" with a "25% Partial Sell"
kicking in if short-term trading takes the stock through $1.50.
