What is so dumb. Did Bill get un approval or not.
Yup!
AFAIK Bill had Nato approval but not UN approval.
I don't agree. If you click on the link below and go to Resolution 1244, Page 6, Annex 2, and Statement 4:
"The international security presense with substantial NATO participation must be deployed under the unified command and control, and authorized to establish a safe environment for all people in Kosovo and to facilitate the safe return to their homes of all displaced persons and refugees."

Did FDR get UN or League of Nations support before WWII.
Yup!
Wrong again, your not he sharpest knife in the drawer tonight. FDR did not get UN or league of nations approval before he declared war on Germany.
Well, nearly half the League of Nations had been annexed by Germany or were at war with the US. So it would have been a little tough for FDR to get their approval......I'm sure you agree. Look under Annex for member states:

However, FDR did get the UN's approval:
"The name 'United Nations' coined by US president FDR, was first used in the "Declaration of the UN" of 1 January, 1942 during WWII, when representatives of 26 nations pledged their Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers."
Excuse me, but who's not the sharpest knife in the drawer this nite or any nite?

In fact, of all of the wars since the Un inception, the un gave its approval, probably 2 or 3 times. When has it ever been the standard. ONly because you say so.
What wars are those?
WWI. WWI , Gulf, Afghansitan, Israel. N Korea. Vietnam was started by France, then dropped in our lap. Even in Bosnia, the US did the major work, and our European allies contributed peanuts.
UN approval has been the standard primarily since the very early 1990's when the former Soviet Union collapsed. However, it had been active in some prior [to 1990] wars; most notably those in Israel and Afghanistan. Since 1990, the UN has played a much more active role in the wars/conflicts of the world and UN approval garners a certain respect.
Dump Israel? In terms of giving it its unilateral support re its conflict with Palestine, Europe has been moving away from Europe in the past ten years while the US has moved closer. Frankly, after a review of the facts, I think they are doing the honorable thing.....oil or no oil.
don't kid yourself, in Israels case it is the oil. However, Israel was created because of Europes racism, and when they couldn't deal with it, especially Germany, was dumped on us in 45. Israel was started by Britian, France and Germany, and they should have seen it through completion. But no, they dump the Jews in Palestine and bug out, leaving the US to keep Israel alive. Imagine if your parents had done that to you when you were 1 yr old.
After WW II, the US and the UK dumped Israel on the UN. However, the US has taken a more active role due to our relatively large Jewish population. Britain's role has also been fairly active as well. Germany has participated too but more in terms of financial aid than in an active role as mediator. BTW the amount of the German's financial aid to Israel has been sizeable.
Germany has a lot of contracts for technical and some oil field equipment. Primarily though, Schroeder was inflaming the population against the war to win the elections Sunday.
That's an out and out lie......in fact the truth was the other way around. Polls showed that the German people were against a war in Iraq and Schroeder played into that sentiment.
Too bad it failed, and Schroeder lost big time.
What? He won! Are you now trying to rewrite German history?
ONce again a German leader is using another nationality, or nation as a scapegoat for its problems. Germany has stagnated badly the last several yrs, and it has been America's fault, because we are to cruel to our poor, or our unions aren't strong enough, or we didn't sign Kyoto. Just like HItler blamed the treaty of WWI for Germanys problems, and then later it was the Jews. Whatever. Never look a problem in the face, and deal with it, blame someone else is their motto.
Your thesis above is absurd. In the past decade, Germany has had economic problems because it has had to contend with the absorption/merger of the former GDR into the West. Billions have been spent to reduce the disparities between the two. In addition, Germany has lost industry to the former eastern bloc countries because wages are lower in those countries.......much like the American North lost industry to the South after WW II. Having said that, Germany is in no danger of going under. Its a vibrant wealthy nation with the people/talent needed to mend its problems.
