Lightfoots song about the Edmund Fitzgerald is a classic. I vaguely recall Burl Ives when I was a little kid. He used to sing folksy songs, I seem to recall, like Barbara Allen comes to mind. People often died in the old ballads. Are ballads considered folk songs?
