I find one of the most charming mock-economic scales in the world to be Bhutan's GHP, the so-called Gross Happiness Product. Instead of attempting to measure money flows (i.e. GDP) and small-mindedly equating this with happiness, the Bhutanese demonstrate ever so much more wisdom

And they produce some really good rice

if you happen on a grocery store offering more esoteric foods, ala Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Wild Oats. I see a Wild Oats in Bend- the one in Vancouver has it in bulk.

Creates an outstanding Cream of Rice soup, Baked Rice pudding, and who knows what other delights I have yet to discover.
