Interesting and thks, Robert.

A note on semiconductor inventories. There is a limit to how much can be recycled into the channel, mostly because their technological usefullness comes to and end at some stage. I have owned an electronics company (years ago) and it some point the only thing one can do is scrap it. We even had to scrap a lot of chips after two years because they were no longer solderable reliably, but nowadays I believe the technological deterioration is the worst.

On the sectors, I do not have exact numbers at hand, but I think a reasonable distribution is:

one third PC related (incl. printers and other peripherals)
one third communication related (wireless/wireline)
one third other, incl. chips in TVs, radios, microwaves, cars etc

Cheers
