Saddam is a bad menace, but mostly to his own people.
Bush is probably going to war no matter what now, but it will not be a Gulf War type coalition. It will also be very expensive for us until our oil companies take over the Iraqi fields and then at least Texas will make money. Bush's real constituency, the oil companies, will benefit. The rest of us will pay for the war and wait to see if things settle down, or if Bush's neo-conservative agenda takes him into Iran and other places next. Iran, another oil pot they lust for. The hard reality is when you put a couple of former oil execs in the White House and give them the excuse (9-11) to attack in the Gulf region, they seize the opportunity to grab oil reserves. In a sense it's a good idea, in another sense it's cynical and greedy. But either way it's probably going to happen and Bush will be judged for it in 2004.
