Excess goods produced in response to strong consumer demand which was in no small part fueled by consumers living beyond their means on easy credit. This has nothing to do with tax policy. This has everything to do with a society that believes it is entitled to live beyond its means. Give the over-extended consumer more relief, and they will only dig a deeper hole.

No, the way to help the consumer is to provide more opportunities to EARN income. Tax cuts for most Americans will only produce more excess spending, and will not support proper investment. Time to pay the piper for the Clinton Bubble Hangover.
