SAMSys Technologies and Real-Time Locating Company SafeTzone Sign VAR Agreement

TORONTO, Feb. 5 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY:TSX-VEN)
("SAMSys"), a world leading provider of radio frequency identification (RFID)
hardware solutions, today announced it has signed a value-added reseller (VAR)
agreement with SafeTzone Technologies Corporation, the premier provider of
real-time individual locating systems for family destinations.
SafeTzone's Child Locating System can instantly locate any individual or
group at any time using SafeTzone Locators, RF readers and interactive
LocationStation kiosks within entertainment parks. Each park visitor is given
an RFID chip-embedded device (about the size of a wristwatch) that acts both
as a function of payment and provides tracking capabilities for that
individual within the park. The key benefits of this implementation include
use of an "electronic wallet," the reduction of wait times for popular rides
and ability to locate missing children. The system is currently available to
guests visiting select waterparks such as Wet 'n Wild - Las Vegas, Nevada;
Wild Rivers - Irvine, California; and Dolly's Splash Country, adjacent to
DollyWood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
"SafeTzone's locating system demonstrates yet another innovative real-
world application using RFID technology," says Cliff Horwitz, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of SAMSys. "The opportunities to expand the deployment
of the technology in this operational setting are immense, and we would hope
that we can provide meaningful added value in this endeavor. We're truly
delighted to have the opportunity to partner with SafeTzone, a company that
has developed and installed a very much needed and functional system so
successfully across multiple locations."
"Our tracking system is simple to use, provides a safer environment, and
allows a richer, more fulfilling experience for family and friends when
visiting an amusement park," said Timothy W. Giraldin, CEO of SafeTzone. "We
rely on top-notch technology, such as SAMSys' readers, to provide amusement
parks across North America with the most accurate and reliable solutions
possible."
SafeTzone offers three real-time systems, based on RFID technology, for
amusement parks across the United States:
- The SafeTzone Child Locating System is a guest-tracking system for
amusement parks that quickly locates any child on an electronic map
of the park, providing parents with immediate visual answers to their
children's whereabouts.
- The SafeTzone Cashless Spending Module eliminates the need for cash
anywhere in the park by turning each SafeTzone Locator into an
"electronic wallet". The elimination of cash provides patrons with
the freedom to utilize the park's services and make purchases at
restaurants, games, attractions, and shops throughout the park.
- SafeTzone Line Management Module is an electronic line management
solution designed to reduce or eliminate wait-times usually associated
with popular rides. The system is designed to embrace or replace
existing line management systems in place today.

SAMSys offers a selection of reader solutions including standard
frequency-specific modules (SAMSys' SARS family of readers), custom-made
application specific reader systems, and OEM modules aimed at providing
tailored solutions for a wide variety of supply chain management applications.
The comprehensive line of RFID readers spans low frequency, high frequency and
UHF, supports a very broad range of protocols, and is available in a wide
range of form factors, including:
- packaged and ready to use low power readers,
- high power readers for demanding applications,
- smart shelves,
- modules for integration into OEM products,
- RFID reader networks for TCP/IP connectivity, and
- dual frequency readers at 125KHz/13.56MHz and 134KHz/13.56 MHz.
