Lots of people see a repeat, even though there isn't going to be a repeat, because people inevitably look backward. Sometime looking backwards makes sense, and sometimes it does not. In this case, I'd say it doesn't. Iraq couldn't whip Iran in 10 years of fighting. Iraq only went after Kuwait because they had long standing tensions over their border, and the oil fields, and Iraq thought the Us had given them the nod that it was ok. Nothing like that happened in Germany.
