The Russian army invaded Afghanistan too and pulled out in defeat. Our experience in Afghanistan has been a little bit better. Even though Afghanistan bordered the USSR and is on the other side of the world from us. Something to think about. Since Gulf War I, our military capabilities have gotten better.

Yes, there are things to worry about and I do worry. About WMD's for example. About the Republican Guard, some units of which were willing to fight to the death in Kuwait. While most of the Iraqi army is likely waiting for an excuse to surrender, Saddam may still have units willing to die for him. While I have no doubt of our ability to win, the ability of Saddam to inflict casulties on us is unknown.

But the bottom line on these worries is that letting Saddam continue to follow his course will produce even greater dangers in the future. The sooner we take him on the better for us. The more delay the more danger for us.
