Of all the things I fear in the current mess, rising unemployment takes the cake. It has a far greater degree of "clout" with respect to the future than any other markers I follow (and I have made this point for three years on this thread). Unfortunately, it is a tiger ravaging the land and I see no near term escape from its rampage. Bluntly, the critical mass it has acquired is truly frightening to me as I can see no way that we can avoid its associated carnage. (ng)
