It was hardly a slam dunk for Bush.> It should have been a slam dunk for Gore if you really think about it. If the Clinton legacy was so good, Gore would have had no problems riding it to victory. Instead, Gore tried to be his "own man," which ultimately failed because the center didn't know what Gore stood for. Plus the left felt betrayed by Gore and voted for Nader instead. Bush won the presidency by a combination of circumstances and character, which pretty much defines his entire life. As for Gore, you could argue that he tried too hard ... and lost. Tenchusatsu
