I stepped out on the snow covered deck and saw a beautiful crescent moon in the western sky.

Ha. I just came in from walking the dog and figured I'd
mention it. You beat me to it.

It looked like I could hang my coat on it.

I just finished looking at this site:
mystarslive.com

You can enter your where-abouts and time and get a half way
decent map of the sky. I prefer aiming it at the eastern
horizon because that is the direction I usually look out at
while walking the dog.

I wanted to see which planet was shining so brightly. It's
Jupiter. Saturn is out there too but didn't notice it.

Here's a question for you star gazers. Do the Big Dipper
and Little Dipper have a different name? One that is more
scientific sounding? Or are they part of another
constellation? I can't seem to find it on the maps
that I've checked.
