Joan, Ibexx & All, some cute Katt-nips

There's no love lost between Progressive Networks CEO Rob Glaser and his former employers at Microsoft. So the Redmondites enjoyed making Glaser squirm when he went to them in a desperate search for cash. He got what he wanted, but sources told El Gato that he sold his soul in the process by giving up the source code to RealAudio/RealVideo. Now that Microsoft has a license for the code, the sources said, it plans to give RealAudio/RealVideo away for free, forcing Progressive to either come up with a new business model quickly--or find a new hobby.

[and on another topic:]

The Mouser was grumpy. His note-book was feeling the effects of an unfriendly--and resource-hungry--Java applet that somehow attached itself to his Web site, and Spencer's eyes glazed as he stared at the hourglass on his screen. Listening to his hard drive crank and feeling the pain of his system resources being sucked dry, he could stand it no longer. "If this is the leading edge, then I'm jumping the hell off," the Furball said as he closed down his browser.
........

The hue and cry of "Bring back the HTML" resonated throughout the virtual halls of PC Week Online, and the site's technicians listened, putting the evil Java app on ice while they worked out the kinks. His faith in the cosmos restored, Spencer fired up Navigator, and all was well once again.

Best regards,
Arno
[P.S. Joan - re: 10-20% market gain by year-end - I hope the analysts are right.]
[P.S. Ibexx - this does indeed seem to be a replay of the MSFT short-term correction pattern - low 130s still looks like strong support - too bad Greenspan has been tamed, he might have provided a little one-day jolt to give us an extra-juicy buying opportunity. Maybe some other event will.]
