Article about AMD vs Intekl market share. Seems quarter 4 was better again, lost a lot in 2002:

ebns.com.

AMD said to gain back share from Intel

"Advanced Micro Devices gained back a little processor market share from Intel Corp in the fourth quarter of 2002, achieving a 13.8% share, up from 11.6% in the previous period, according to Mercury Research Wednesday.

AMD's fourth quarter share was sharply down form 18% in the same period in 2001. Dean McCarron, analyst of Mercury Research, Scottsdale, Ariz., said AMD in the last two quarters of 2002 lost share from a year ago because it shipped less product as customers were working down overstocked inventories.

"It looks like we will have a more normal processor market going into 2003," he said.

Intel's fourth quarter share of the total processor market was 84.6%, down from 86.8% in the previous period but up from 81.2% in Q4 '01.

If Intel processor shipments for Microsoft Corp.'s X-Box game console are excluded, the Intel fourth quarter market share was 83.5%, down from 85.9% the previous period but up from 80.6% for the year-ago period. "
