Missing Sprint Handset - week 10

Bolstered by this post on HowardForums dated 1/18/03, I was planning to return to handset watch this coming Monday:

==========

Just Spoke with Nancy Sherrer of Sprint (she is the person who always has her name at the bottom of the Sprint press releases) and was told that the Nokia 3585i will be available in Radio Shack's and on sprintpcs.com in the second week of February. The 3585i will NOT be sold in Sprint stores. She also told me they did not release it during the holidays because they wanted to get rid of standing inventory of phones in that same price range. Once January 1, 2003 hit, they needed to comply with the E-911 regulation, so the Nokia 3585 has become the Nokia 3585i. Some new news and some old news. Hope this helped.

However, as we rapidly approach a full 2 1/2 months - 10 weeks - 70 days - nearly a full quarter late... a new post on HowardForums dated 2/6/03 suggests any renewed vigilance is premature:

==========

We got an Sprint company email saying the 3585i wont be available in store until the last week in Feb or the first week in March.

Boy.... UPS must be really slow delivering those 3585i's...

Couldn't be technical problems.... could it?

The kind of technical problems where they keep incrementally stretching the deadline because the have no concrete idea when they'll be resolved?

Or maybe Sprint found another pile of old handsets to sell first.

ROTFLMAO!
