C,

What is your plan for North Korea? How would you have handled it differently?

Clinton appeared to handle the situation well and was prepared to go to war (without consulting the UN btw) when he was talked into the Framework back in '94. They moved their development to enriched uranium and proceeded anyway and developed 1 or 2 weapons. Using funds obtained from South Korea and offsets from our supply of fuel oil.

Diplomatic solutions here seem to involve going back to a 90's approach of effectively sticking our heads in the sand and pretending nothing was happening.

You should read what Václav Havel and others under the 'evil empire' thought of another President you probably considered brash and lacking foreign policy tact.

During the period from September 1939 through late 1941, the Commonwealth (with Canada) stood alone against Hitler. My father-in-law and grandfather (and many from their generations across Canada) were always bitter that the US stayed out of the conflict and pursued diplomatic measures.

The following is a quote Charles Linbergh, the noted Aviator and supporter or US Neutrality in WW2.

They declared the war without consulting us. If it were possible to help them win, the result would probably be Versailles all over again. Europe must straighten out her own family affairs. Our interference would simply cause another postponement, as the last war did. Europe faces adjustments that must be made, and only she can work out what they are going to be.

In the summer of 1941 - 80% of the US public supported him and his cause over the Administration (which wanted to intervene). He never understood that this was not just a geopolitical game and that Hitlers regime was truly evil.
