The Sunshine policy is the more illustriative of the two. North Korea is much more interested in it's relationship with South Korea than it is with it's relationship with the U.S. The Sunshine policy's success was a direct result of a couple of hundred million that South Korea paid North Korea. The transfer of cash happened right before the summit in '00. I have real trouble seeing that as a coincidence. This is actually going to be a real problem for the US. South Korea has the best chance to act as an intermediary with North Korea but I think the scandal could hamper any moves made by SK politicians for the forseeable future. Slacker
