I don't think anyone would ever consider Bush "the brain", but, for the most part, I don't doubt his sincerity or leadership, delegation skills (especially vis-a-vis other politicians, even if Bush wrong on an issue), and I do believe Bush is smarter than he is generally portrayed, although clearly no intellectual (duh). But I'm not convinced that one needs to necessarily an intellectual to be a good/successful president, although it usually helps. As bright as Clinton is/was, and as much as I could care less about his multiple "hummers", he was incredibly reckless to do what he did, and even our country has a problem with such things, I fault Clinton for not properly weighing the risks on that one (not to mention he coulda picked a better-looking broad-g). It was an incredible miscalculation for a guy so bright- doesn't matter if country is too uptight or not.
Funny, Gore is/was portrayed as such a smart guy, yet he basically failed/dropped out of grad school, yet Bush got a Harvard MBA. I doubt one can be of average intelligence, and make it thru Harvard MBA program, but I could be wrong-g. People skills are probably as important as raw intelligence in politics, and Bush certainly has gotten far on those people skills..
Maybe Bush is the middle finger-g |
