The time limit has to be in the software somewhere. It's been like that as long as I've been at SI. Something else some people may not know is that it is possible to edit a post way past the 15 minute limit, but it works much better during low traffic times, which leads me to believe there is a buffer size issue going on. To edit a post past the 15 minute limit, you have to go into the edit mode before your 15 minutes are up and approve it again. After your 15 minutes are up you can usually back into the edit mode again using the back button on your browser. I've done this for posts well over an hour old. I very seldom change the content of my posts, but I will correct spelling and grammar.
