Terrorist retaliations may or may not come whatever we do. 9-11 came without any special provocation on our part. Unless you count Bush talking tough against the Palestinians as he came into office. But 9-11 was probably being planned before Bush even came into power. Bottomline, Bush has staked his entire presidency on this. If he backs off now he loses face. He's called them "evil" and has spent six months trying to convince us Saddam is enemy #1 so now that the UN has had their chance -- bombs away soon. Unless Saddam gives up. Unlikely but always possible.
