Although I am neither long or short AGPH, I offer the following (just like Walter Cronkite): Subject: Switched to Viracept and failed... After 6 months on Crix, 3TC, and D4T my viral load was undetectable, but I changed to Viracept because of kidney sludge and other drug side effects. My doctor felt it was OK to switch just one drug with undetectable viral load. At 6 weeks on this new combo (Viracept, 3TC, and D4T) my viral load was 2,500. We re-checked it but the 2nd viral load was 18,000!
So, what to take now? Doctor's answer - Saquinivir with Viracept (to increase blood levels of Saq), add DDI and keep the D4T. Of course I'm on Bactrim too so this means I'll be taking 34 pills a day! I haven't started yet (will pick up the Saq tomorrow) but am rather intimidated by the complicated schedule (DDI - 2 X day on empty stomach, Viracept - 3 X day with food) and the huge number of pills (Saq alone is 18 - 6 pills 3 X day). I'm also worried about peripheral neuropathy with the two "D" drugs.
Yes, Johnnie, I am aware of the side-effect reports on that discussion list, but just posting that wouldn't be...educational. Did you still want to take me out to dinner when I'm in New England? |
